Marin Tennis Serve part 2
The second thing you need to know when returning serve is what to look at. A good tennis player must watch the opponents toss. More specifically, watch the ball as it is tossed up into the air. You will then see the ball as soon as possible after she has struck it. You may not see the tennis ball at once, but you will see it sooner since you are looking where it should be. As soon as you read the flight of the ball, take your racquet back as quickly as you can.
The third thing is what swing to use. I do not advise my pupils to use the looping swing to return serve.Another key in being an effective tennis player is to take the raquet back as quickly as you can. The faster the serve is the shorter the take-back of the tennis racquet. The reason for the short back swing is the serve is providing the power when it is fast. You are providing the power when it is slow. After you take back your tennis racquet don’t have a huge follow through. Keep the racquet swing short and simple. Make sure that you have nice control over your tennis racquet.
